Annual Field Trips Organized by Career Services
Each year Career Services organizes off-campus learning experiences for the students at Garner Magnet High School. These experiences provide students the opportunity to increase their knowledge, experience concepts learned in class and meet professionals in various fields.
Great Xplorations (GX): in November each Year. is a field trip to NC State McKimmon Center for 9th graders. This trip is held in November of each year. It is an opportunity for students to participate in various activities that will help them understand what they can do to make their four years in high school a success. WCPSS GX Video
JA Career Success:Junior Achievement Career Success is composed of multiple 45-minute sessions where high school students learn career development tools and skills required to earn and keep a job in high-growth career industries.
Introduce a Girl to Engineering:Introduce a Girl to Engineering is an opportunity for girls who are interested in exploring the field of engineering to participate in hands-on demonstrations, hear from other women working in the engineering field and learn what career opportunities exist for girls in the field of engineering. NCDOT Career Expo:NCDOT Career Expo is an opportunity for students who are interested in exploring the field of transportation to participate in panel discussions, hear from other professionals working in the transportation industry, attend a transportation career fair and learn what career opportunities exist in the field of NC Transportation.

Xtreme Beginnngs (XB):Xtreme Beginnings is a field trip to NC State McKimmon Center for 11th graders. This trip is held in April of each year. It’s an opportunity for students to participate in various activities that will assist them with making a successful transition after high school. WCPSS XB Video
WRAL Job Shadow:Held in April each Year. Offer 2 GMHS students the opportunity to spend the day at the WRAL Broadcasting Studios where they are introduced to and see all the aspects of television broadcasting. Students will hear from professionals and experience what it's like to produce the noon news.
Click Here to See Video Rule of Law Conference:Held in March each Year. Offer 3-6 GMHS students the opportunity to spend the day at the Campbell University Law School campus in downtown Raleigh. Students hear from various professionals including lawyers and judges. They participate in activities that apply the rule of law and learn about what's like to work in those professions.
Women in Business Luncheon:Held in March each Year. Garner Chamber of Commerce offers 5-6 GMHS female students the opportunity to have lunch at the Grand Marquise Ballroom in Garner . Students have lunch with various female professionals and hear from an inspirational lady who has succeeded in business.
