NCTAP- "The Other Four Year Degree"
During their Junior year students will-
At the End of their Four Year Journey
With successful completion of the program, each student will have earned
- Explore the program to see if it's a good fit for them.
- Attend NCTAP interest meeting at school in November during 11th grade year.
- Attend NCTAP Open Houses at area companies in December and January.
- Attend NCTAP orientation at 2 companies of your choice in March/April.
- After the orientation, companies will decide if you are selected as a finalist to complete a 6-week, paid, summer internship in Late April.
- Complete a 6-week, paid, internship at the company that selected you. You are competing for the opportunity to be selected as their apprentice in the NCTAP program.
- Complete 2 college courses at Wake Tech at no cost to you. The courses and grade will come back to GMHS and added to your high school transcript.
- Find out if chosen as an apprentice in August.
- Take a reduced course load at GMHS. Receive credit on their transcript as an apprentice.
- Work 20 hours a week during the day as an apprentice.
- Speak at the GMHS NCTAP Information Session in November.
At the End of their Four Year Journey
With successful completion of the program, each student will have earned
- A Nationally Recognized, Journeyman's Certificate from the Department of Labor
- An Associate Degree from Wake Tech Community College at No-Cost to them
- Offered a permanent job with with a minimum salary of $36,000 a year plus full benefits.
