WRAL-TV and Explorer Post 5 will hold an Open House on Thursday, September 28th at 7:00 pm at the WRAL-TV studios located at 2619 Western Boulevard in Raleigh, NC for anyone age 14-20 who is interested in the WRAL Post 5 program. This program is a great opportunity for students who would like to gain valuable experience in television production through job shadowing, clinics, workshops and hands on experience. Membership is limited and anyone interested must submit an application. Registration Required and Apply Early.

Architecture, Construction and Engineering (ACE) Mentor Program | Interested in a Career in ACE
The ACE Mentor Program is open to any high school student who has a drive to learn about a career in design and construction — from contracting and engineering to architecture and landscaping. At weekly meetings, student teams work directly with professionals from leading area firms, who volunteer their time to mentor the teams as they design hypothetical projects, tour local construction sites, and visit architectural, engineering and construction offices. For students, it’s a unique chance to discover and develop new skills, solidify future goals and get on track to exciting, rewarding careers. In addition, many students form positive relationships with industry professionals who can provide important references for obtaining college admissions, scholarships, internships and full-time employment. Registration Required and Apply Early.

NC State Shadow an Engineering Student | Interested in a Career in Engineering
The Pre-College Initiative Shadowing Day is an event hosted by NC State's National Society of Black Engineers chapter. Students are invited to the campus to shadow college students as they attend classes. This experience gives students a glimpse into the life of an engineering student while experiencing higher learning.

Wade Edwards Learning Lab (WELL) | Various Career Interests
Providing Wake County high school students with opportunities for achievement, enrichment and service in preparation for personal and academic success. Discover tutoring and homework help, WELL Service Warriors, WELL Rounded, and more! Programs are led by qualified staff members and community volunteers. Programs are offered during the after school hours Monday-Friday, and on some weekends. Most programs & services are provided at no-cost to our students.

FLAMES - Computing Workshop for Girls | Girls Interested in Computer Careers
FLAMES-Females Learning Awesome Math and Science is a free program to encourage high school girls to consider a career in coding. This program will meet approximately once a month on Saturdays and involve introductions to different computing activities such as CS Unplugged, Android, 3D printing. No experience required! Introduction to Snap! Workshop – September 24, 2016 from 9:00am - 1:00pm Location: Daniels on North Campus at NCSU, room 243. Lunch will be provided.

Youth Legislative Assembly | Interested in Politics/Government
offered to any high school student in good standing at a public, private, charter, or home school in North Carolina.
This three-day session offers students the opportunity to participate in a mock legislative event where high school students voice their opinions and vote on issues concerning local, state and national government. The National Security Agency (NSA) is sponsoring a national initiative called the NSA Day of Cyber to raise the National IQ for STEM and Cyber Science. The program introduces and inspires all middle school, high school and college students to pursue STEM careers and build the skills that will open up their future and connect them to the in-demand digital workforce.
